The Works Planning Lead is responsible for leading a team to develop a rolling program of works with associated schedules covering all deliverables for program delivery in the network portfolio.
As we continue to invest in our network and the energy transition, we're looking for a highly capable Works Planning Lead - Transmission to play a critical role in planning and coordinating the delivery of our capital and operational works programs.
About the Role
Reporting to the Enterprise Resource and Planning Manager, you are responsible for leading the development of rolling programs of work and integrated schedules across the network portfolio.
Working closely with stakeholders across planning, engineering, procurement, field operations and system operations, you will ensure work is prioritised, scheduled and coordinated to optimise resources, manage risk and support the successful delivery of network investment programs via our transmission delivery resources.
This role is ideal for a strategic planner who thrives in a complex operational environment and enjoys turning competing priorities into clear, executable delivery plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of integrated works programs and schedules across a high-volume portfolio of network projects and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align operational plans, resource requirements and delivery priorities.
- Identify and manage delivery risks, constraints and dependencies, escalating issues and recommending solutions where required.
- Drive continuous improvement in scheduling systems, processes and reporting through the use of technology, data and advanced planning techniques.
- Ensure works programs align with financial targets, business priorities, network requirements and governance frameworks.
- Support the development of long-term planning and forecasting capability across the portfolio.
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure planning activities support safe and efficient work execution.
About You
You are a highly organised and analytical planning professional with experience coordinating complex programs of work within asset-intensive industries.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in works planning, scheduling, program management or portfolio planning within utilities, energy, telecommunications, transport, infrastructure or construction.
- Strong understanding of scheduling methodologies, resource planning and delivery risk management.
- Experience developing and managing large-scale operational or capital works programs.
- Advanced stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence outcomes across multiple business functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Experience using portfolio, project management and scheduling systems, including Microsoft Project or similar platforms.
Qualifications
- Advanced Diploma in Project or Program Management, or equivalent experience.
- Formal scheduling qualification and/or demonstrated scheduling expertise.
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
- White Card (General Construction Induction).
