Your New Role:
Kempsey Shire Council is seeking a motivated and organised Utilities Administration Officer to provide administrative support across the Utilities Directorate and contribute to the delivery of safe, reliable and compliant water, wastewater and waste management services for our community.
In this diverse role, you will provide high-level administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the Utilities team. You will assist with regulatory reporting, records management, customer service, project administration and compliance activities, while supporting the delivery of essential water, sewer and waste services across the Shire.
Working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate records, coordinating administrative processes and supporting the Utilities Directorate to achieve its operational and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing administrative support across the Utilities Directorate, ensuring records, documentation and correspondence are maintained accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinating administrative and logistical requirements for the Water Traineeship Program.
- Preparing correspondence, reports, meeting agendas and minutes, media briefs, information packages and other documentation.
- Supporting reporting requirements for regulators and other external agencies.
- Administering WHS compliance documentation in consultation with relevant staff.
- Processing and coordinating water and sewer connection applications.
- Providing project administration support and assisting with the implementation of procedures and process improvements.
- Managing customer enquiries and delivering a high standard of customer service.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of administrative systems, processes and service delivery outcomes.

About You:
You are an experienced administration professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting a team to achieve operational success. You are highly organised, detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and are confident building positive working relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors and external stakeholders. With a proactive and flexible approach, you are committed to delivering excellent customer service and contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A Higher School Certificate (HSC), Certificate II in Business Administration, or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience gained through relevant work experience.
- A current Class C Driver Licence.
- A General Construction Induction Card, or willingness to obtain one.
Experience working within local government, utilities, infrastructure, engineering or a regulated environment will be highly regarded.
