We are seeking an experienced and contemporary leader to fill the pivotal role of Manager Communications and Customer Engagement. Reporting to the Director Community Engagement and working closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Elected Members, this role is at the centre of how the Shire connects with its community, promotes its services and builds trust with our community and stakeholders.
Leading both our Communications and Customer Service functions, you will play a key role in shaping the community's experience of the Shire. You will drive strategic communications, strengthen community engagement, enhance customer experience and help guide the organisation's communication through periods of growth and change. This is an exciting opportunity to support and develop an expanding Customer Service team while building the capability and impact of our Communications team.
To succeed in this role, you will bring significant experience in strategic communications, public relations, media or journalism, together with a proven ability to lead people, manage organisational reputation and deliver effective engagement outcomes. You will be a trusted advisor, an influential leader and a passionate advocate for customer and community-centred service delivery.

Our preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing, coaching and developing multidisciplinary teams within a complex and changing environment, with the ability to drive organisational change and foster a high-performance culture.
- Extensive experience in strategic communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement, customer experience, brand management and reputation management, including the management of complex and sensitive issues.
- Proven ability to develop, implement and evaluate communication, engagement and customer service strategies, using data and insights to drive continuous improvement and deliver measurable organisational outcomes.
- Highly developed interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, with demonstrated experience providing strategic advice and building effective relationships with executive leaders, elected members, government agencies, community stakeholders and the media.
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Community Engagement, Business Management or a related discipline.
