Mid-Western Regional Council is looking for a Recycling Operations Technician to join our team at the Materials Recycling Facility. This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll operate and maintain equipment, troubleshoot plant, coordinate the sale and transport of recyclable materials and help maximise resource recovery.
Working closely with the Team Leader - Supported Workers, you'll help keep the facility operating safely and efficiently while contributing to a productive team environment and reducing waste sent to landfill.
About the Role
As the Recycling Operations Technician, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Council's Materials Recycling Facility. From monitoring product quality and maintaining equipment to coordinating the sale and transport of recyclable materials, you'll help maximise resource recovery and ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
You'll also proactively manage the second-hand shop drop-off area, identify opportunities to recover reusable goods, troubleshoot plant and equipment and contribute to a safe, productive and high-performing workplace!
About You
You are a practical, safety-focused team player who enjoys working in a hands-on environment. You take pride in producing quality outcomes, have strong mechanical aptitude and are committed to protecting the environment through effective resource recovery.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current Class C driver licence.
- Current forklift licence (or willingness to obtain in first 3 months).
- Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain
- VOC for skid steer loader (or willingness to obtain in first 3 months).
- Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- 2 years’ experience working in a recycling, waste management, or other industrial/operational environment.
- Knowledge of the safe operation and basic maintenance of plant and equipment (e.g. conveyors, balers, forklifts, skid steers), supported by strong mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor faults and undertake routine maintenance.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, contractors, team members and supported workers.
- NDIS Worker Orientation or the ability to obtain.
- NDIS Worker Screening or the ability to obtain.
Please note, you must complete a Police Criminal History Check prior to commencing.
The salary range being offered for this full-time position is $2,820.70 - $2,992.00 gross per fortnight plus superannuation, which equates to an annual salary of $73,338.20 - $77,792.00 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).
