As Mechanic you will be primarily responsible for carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs to the City’s fleet of vehicles, plant, and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations as well as working collaboratively to minimise downtime and support frontline service delivery across the organisation.
Committed to work health and safety within a mechanical workshop environment, you are able to provide operators with guidance on appropriate daily maintenance procedures for plant and equipment. You are competent in the repair and diagnosis of petrol and diesel engines, transmissions, brakes and exhaust systems.
You have maintained a variety of equipment in your career including small handheld plant. You are also familiar with reporting processes to maintain vehicle service records and ensuring equipment is used appropriately.

- Knowledge of current mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to diagnose faults, source solutions, and complete accurate service documentation
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and environmental standards
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Trade qualification – Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)
- Current ‘HR-A’ class driver’s licence
- Construction Induction Training Card (White Card)
This position offers a gross wage of $2,014 per week (incorporate all allowances and penalty rates), and:
- 12% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
