About The Role
Reporting directly to the Dental Assistant Team Leader, the Dental Assistant is responsible with assisting Dentists in the provision of high-level comprehensive and contemporary oral health care to patients
within the TUH operated Dental Centre.
This position will include chair-side assisting, an in-depth understanding of infection control processes, sterilisation, stock control, waste management and radiography processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and proficient chair-side assistance to Dentists and Hygienists in the provision of a range of oral health procedures including endodontics, removable prosthetics, crown and bridge, general operative and simple surgical procedures these duties are performed at a high level in accordance with industry legislation and Departmental infection control standards.
- Be proficient in the reprocessing and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment
- Maintaining stock and consumables at an acceptable level based on operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain both internal and external client relations by providing an informative, friendly, and caring working environment, which focuses on the needs of our members.
What We're Looking For:
- 12 months’ chairside experience in the dental industry.
- Hepatitis B immunisation with current serology.
- Full COVID vaccination.
- A Certificate III in Dental Assisting is not essential but highly desirable.
- A Certificate III in Sterilisation is not essential but highly desirable.
- Sound organisational and time management skills, with the ability to follow procedures, anticipate and manage patients in a busy environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to liaise and consult with all levels of employees and patients.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire a sound knowledge of information technology applications and systems, including electronic patient records, used by the department.
