JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Application Specialist is responsible for the effective operation, support and maintenance of Council's Corporate Applications. Ensuring applications are maintained to vendor requirements, industry best practices, and pursue innovative approaches to support Council's operations and the customer experience.
The role is responsible for maintaining high-quality corporate applications, resolving complex technical issues, leading application upgrades and enhancement projects, and ensuring incidents and system changes are managed in accordance with Council's IT Service Management procedures. You will build strong relationships with business stakeholders, vendors and technical teams, deliver effective data analysis and reporting, oversee system integrations, and maintain a secure and controlled application environment through auditing and preventative maintenance. The position promotes Council's professional and customer focused values through effective communication, collaboration and service delivery.
ABOUT YOU
The successful applicant will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience supporting and administering enterprise corporate applications.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and supporting core corporate business applications, including resolving complex application problems in conjunction with business stakeholders and software vendors.
- Experience developing innovative solutions to business problems through research and application of in-depth technical expertise.
- Extensive experience applying change management discipline, including documentation of IT processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience managing stakeholder relationships, including liaising with vendors, external consultants, and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience in self-management, including adapting your approach to overcome obstacles and re-prioritise conflicting or competing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Project delivery experience, including leading or supporting application upgrades and enhancement projects.
- Strong knowledge of database administration, reporting tools, data modelling and SQL queries
- Excellent relationship management skills, with a demonstrated ability to proactively provide high quality customer service and vendor management, ideally within a local government setting.
