The City of Kwinana is seeking an organised and detail-oriented Privacy Officer to join our Governance and Legal team. This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to coordinate the City's statutory information requests, support compliance with emerging privacy legislation and contribute to best practice information governance across the organisation.
Working within the Office of the CEO, you'll be responsible for administering Freedom of Information (FOI) applications, Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing (PRIS) requirements, subpoenas, summonses and other statutory information requests. You'll also provide administrative support to Property Services, making this a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys balancing legislative compliance with practical service delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with governance, records management, legal administration or property administration experience who is looking for a meaningful role that supports transparency, accountability and community trust.

What You'll Need
To make an impact in this role, the successful candidate will possess:
- Demonstrated experience in governance, records/ information management, statutory/legal administration, property administration or similar role.
- Sound knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (WA), the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA), the State Records Act 2000 (WA) and other relevant legislation.
- Strong ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures, with a high level of accuracy, discretion and attention to detail.
- Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet statutory and organisational deadlines.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear correspondence, reports and documentation and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Well-developed computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Previous knowledge of the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA) is desirable.
