In the role of the Indigenous NDIS Support Worker, you will provide culturally safe and person-centred support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with disability.
You’ll walk alongside participants to help them achieve their goals, maintain independence, and stay connected to culture, family, and community.
Our NDIS participants reside in Kubirri Aged Care centre located in the beautiful far north Queensland town of Mossman.

Your role will be:
- To support our participants to stay connected to culture, family and the local community.
- Encourage engagement in activities within the framework of respect of the needs of the participant and promotion of personal choice
- In consultation with the participant’s Support Coordinator develop community access support plans
We are looking for the candidate who has:
- A commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, values, and protocols
- Minimum Certificate III in Disability/Mental Health or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 1 years experience supporting people with disabilities
- Self motivated, high level of initiative and strong work ethic
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to be able to interact positively with a variety of people
- Sound administration and computer skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
- Ability to operate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Team player, flexible with a positive attitude
- Effective problem-solving skills, evaluation and conflict resolution skills
- A current Driver's License and a registered, insured vehicle
- A current First Aid Certificate
- A NDIS Worker Screening Check
