About the role: Data Engineer – 12 month contract
Reporting to the Data Governance Leader, the Data Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering the implementation of the Soda platform, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and aligned with organisational data quality objectives. Responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and deploy robust data quality checks and monitoring pipelines using the Soda platform within AWS cloud services.
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts to support the integration and scaling of Soda across diverse data sources.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts, Engineers, and Governance teams to define and implement data quality rules and expectations.
- Ensure seamless integration of Soda with AWS-native tools such as S3, Glue, Redshift, and Lambda.
- Contribute to documentation, testing, and user training to support adoption and long-term maintainability of the Soda platform.
Be Impactful when you are applying:
You are a hands-on Data Engineer with a strong background in Python development and experience working in cloud-native environments, particularly AWS. You will also have some of the following competencies;
- Tertiary Qualification in computer science, information technology, business systems or other relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent significant practical experience.
- Extensive experience in building Data Engineering pipeline as well as exposure to Cloud Data Platforms (Strong proficiency in Python development is essential)
- Knowledge of cloud data systems and products and experience in delivery of cloud data projects (preferably AWS)
- Proven experience working with data cataloging platforms, particularly Alation, to drive data governance, discoverability, and collaboration across enterprise data assets.
- Extensive stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working in Energy/Utilities or similar complex corporate environment
