About the Role
The Fleet and Asset Operations Manager oversees a varied portfolio of vehicles and major plant equipment, ensuring assets are maintained, compliant, and used efficiently. The role involves coordinating maintenance, improving asset utilisation, and leveraging data insights to support strategic decision-making. Strong collaboration with operational teams, stakeholders, and service providers is key to maintaining safety and performance across all assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate fleet and major plant equipment management across multiple sites, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and collaboration with third-party providers
- Oversee registration, servicing, insurance and maintenance programs, maintaining compliance with HVNL and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies, asset management systems, and continuous improvement initiatives using data insights
- Manage the full asset lifecycle, from procurement to disposal, including optimisation of utilisation and reduction of external equipment hire
- Monitor budgets, analyse performance data, and deliver meaningful reports and dashboards for key stakeholders
- Foster strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring safety, regulatory alignment, and customer-focused operational delivery
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years' proven experience in fleet and asset management within a comparable industry
- Strong expertise in ERP-based asset systems and data-driven decision-making
- Sound knowledge of NHVL, WHS, and Chain of Responsibility regulatory frameworks
- Effective stakeholder engagement and vendor management across complex environments
- Commercial acumen with strategic planning capabilities aligned to business goals
- Exceptional leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills in operational context
Essential Requirements:
- You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of submitting your application to be considered for this role.

- Flexibility to travel across Sydney Water sites as required.
