Development Planner / Senior Development Planner
(12-month term contract)
About the Role
Maitland City Council is one of the fastest growing Councils in NSW. We are currently seeking either a Development Planner or a Senior Development Planner to join our high performing and supportive team for a 12-month term contract to ensure the effective and efficient assessment and determination of development applications.
Our Development Planners and Senior Development Planners actively case manage a diverse range of development applications, provide written and verbal advice to a range of stakeholders whilst undertaking assessment of commercial, industrial, residential, and rural development proposals, including subdivisions.
The role is responsible for the proficient application of land use policy and compliance with relevant legislation and Council's local laws, plans and policies. The role provides input and assistance to the preparation and review of development controls and policy provisions related to development assessment functions.

This is a temporary full-time opportunity, for a period of 12 months, working 35 hours per week.
We are offering a salary range for the Development Planner of $105,916 - $117,566 and the Senior Development Planner of $111,958 - $124,273 per year + 12% superannuation.

About you
You will possess a degree qualification in Town Planning or related discipline. You will hold contemporary industry knowledge and experience in the development assessment process, including interpreting relevant legislation and policy. You will also have experience in negotiation and facilitation with stakeholders to resolve planning challenges to achieve desired outcomes.
In addition to the above, applicants for the Senior Development Planner role will have substantial experience in the development assessment process and demonstrated experience in interpreting complex information and producing comprehensive reports to enhance decision making.
