The Roles
Indigenous Liaison Officer
The Indigenous Liaison Officer (ILO) will provide advice and guidance to support the planning, development and implementation of policies, strategies and programs to attract and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to CGS. You will engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to promote CGS and its Vision, Mission and Values.
This is a key role that liaises between students and teachers to provide CGS indigenous students with tailored social/emotional support to enable them to succeed in their academic programs and will advise CGS on matters of cultural protocol to ensure students are able to flourish.
This is a part-time (11.5 hours over 3-4 days a week), 24-month fixed term opportunity based at our Caulfield Campus.
Key Duties
- Work with families, staff, students and CGS executive and leadership teams to facilitate the best outcomes for all students, families and stakeholders
- Provide guidance to support the planning, development and implementation of policies, strategies and programs
- Maintain a strong cultural focus that extends to advice and action on broad issues, including the enrichment of cultural awareness within CGS
- Leverage relationships within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and CGS to support students
- Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Indigenous Mentor
We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual who can inspire students to thrive in their learning and wellbeing in the role of Indigenous Mentor at Caulfield Grammar School. The Indigenous Mentor role provides cultural support and guidance to Indigenous students to ensure successful participation in the broader community.
This is a part-time position (3 hours per week during school hours and can be flexible on days), 12-month fixed term opportunity based at our Caulfield Campus.
Key Duties:
- Create a productive and safe environment that promotes learning and development for Indigenous students
- Mentor Indigenous students throughout their CGS journey
- Ensure Indigenous students feel a strong sense of belonging within the CGS community
- Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, needs and relationships
- Comprehensive understanding of issues affecting relationships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate this internally to engage stakeholders
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Experience or a background in Education with a willingness to participate in and lead professional development activities
- Excellent organisational and communication (written and verbal) skills to communicate and liaise effectively with students, parents, and all school staff
- Demonstrated capacity to communicate, engage and connect with a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience living and/or working in a residential community
- A current Employment WWCC or willingness to obtain
