We are seeking an experienced business partner with a passion for workplace safety and wellbeing. This is the perfect opportunity to be part of the growth and transformation of a rapidly developing Council.
This role will partner with all sections of the business to provide advice and support and to ensure organisational compliance with all relevant WHS legislation and that related policy, and procedures are implemented and effective. You will guide the business in the development, review and delivery of Workplace Safety and Health initiatives with the goal of maintaining a safe working environment for all staff, contractors and volunteers.
Some of your core functions will include:
- Working with the Shire's workforce to ensure WHS practices are integrated into the core of our business to embed a strong safety culture.
- Participating in risk assessments and corrective actions for work conducted by the Shire and contractors.
- Conducting workplace inspections, safety audits and risk management reviews to mitigate WHS risks.
- Providing WHS training and coaching to employees and leaders to ensure we are promoting a safety culture, and everyone understands their safety obligations.
- Conduct incident investigations, assist in the identification and implementation of effective risk controls.
- Tracking and reporting on WHS performance indicators and identifying areas for improvement.
About You!
Our preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skillset:
- Proven experience in a WHS business partner role
- Qualification in Work Health & Safety or other related discipline
- Incident investigation and/or root cause analysis certification
- Sound knowledge and understanding to the relevant Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice
- Experience in developing and administering a structured training and induction framework to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations
- Experience in the management of Workers' Compensation claims
A sense of humour is also a pre-requisite and just as important as WHS qualifications and WHS experience. This is true business partnering role that works with our people to reduce injury and accidents in a common-sense approach. You will have a real interest in making sure people are working safely.
