We are seeking an experienced and professional Environmental Health Officer with a passion for the broad range of environmental health duties.
About You:
We are looking for a qualified Environmental Health Officer or a graduate seeking the challenge of working in the dynamic and fast paced environment of a growing council. Whether you are experienced or not, this is a great opportunity to gain exposure across the whole spectrum of Environmental Health.
You will be working to maintain the environmental health and amenity status of the Shire's community, through regular monitoring of core environmental health tasks, with a strong focus on customer service and teamwork
The Role:
As the Environmental Health Officer, you will carry out a wide variety of environmental health duties in the diverse rural and urban setting of the Shire. Some of your core functions include:
- Undertake food safety assessments of all food businesses and provide education, guidance and enforcement depending on risk and significance.
- Ensure public buildings and events are safe for their intended use.
- Undertake health risk and impact assessments of planning and building applications as required to minimise negative environmental health and amenity impacts and influence positive public health outcomes.
- Ensure the safe and environmentally responsible treatment and disposal of sewage and industry wastes.
- Respond to service requests and minimise unwanted exposure to hazards and nuisances that may impact on amenity and/or be a risk to health.
- Support our communities healthy living needs through the implantation of the Shire's Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
You will also have the unique opportunity to have a role in the Shires light industry program, primary production audits and ongoing process improvement.
