About the role:

The Hills Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Resource Recovery team as a Senior Resource Recovery Officer. This position is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, as you will assist in managing day to day waste operations, improve operational matters, source separation, resource recovery and education with a focus on Multi-Unit Dwellings.
What this role looks like:
- Responsible to implement Council’s Contamination Management Strategy.
- Responsible to plan and conduct contamination management activities as well as optimize source separation and resource recovery.
- Evaluate and develop strategies to reduce orphan clean-ups, illegal dumping and littering in The Shire.
- Investigate and resolve domestic waste service enquiries and complaints, particularly in Multi-Unit Dwellings.
- Conduct education and resident engagement activities to increase participation in waste reduction and resource recovery within households with a particular focus on Multi-unit Dwellings
- Maintain accurate records and undertake data analysis to identify trends and develop strategies for improvement.
What are we seeking in our new team member:
- Drivers Licence (Class C) - NSW
- Tertiary qualifications in an Environmental or Sustainability Field or in a similar field
- Minimum 5 years relevant waste and resource recovery industry experience.
- Relevant Local Government experience in a similar position (desirable)
- Demonstrated analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions.
- Proven ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and Dealing with Difficult Behaviour.
Position details:
Competitive rate of pay $107K per annum, pro-rata (excluding superannuation) + a To and From Vehicle.
