Wastewater Treatment Assistant Operator
Temporary Full-time position until February 2026 (Leave Relief)
Hours: 38 hours a week + RDO every fortnight + Additional allowances applicable
Salary: $33.03 - $38.39 per hour + 12% Superannuation

What you'll do
As a Wastewater Treatment Assistant Operator, you'll report to the Wastewater Treatment Supervisor and provide support in the operation of wastewater treatment plants and pump stations, chemical dosing systems, catchment operation and control, troubleshooting and diagnostics. This position works to the to ensure that wastewater is transported and treated to create effluent that meets Environmental Protection Authority licensing, Department of Health and relevant legislative and Council procedures.

What you'll need
- Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Wastewater Treatment) or DPI Wastewater Course 1& 2, currently enrolled or training and/or experienced deemed equivalent and a minimum of two years’ experience or demonstrated knowledge in wastewater treatment operation, processes and maintenance and repair/rehabilitation of facilities/assets including quality monitoring.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislations and wastewater management including Department of Health and EPA Licencing requirements.
- Proven ability in effective team collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skill set.
- Demonstrated ability in the use of telemetry, PLC & SCADA systems, computer applications, and operating devices, embracing digital solutions for works activities to enable field productivity and scheduling based systems to facilitate day- to-day operations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with key stakeholders in delivering information on treatment and quality services, and proven understanding on documentation on DPI etc.
- Hold a C Class Drivers Licence and WHS Induction Card (White Card)
Other requirements
- Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical prior to commencement
- Be willing to complete immunisation record for Hepatitis A, B and Tetanus
Desirable
- Confined Space Entry Certificate
- Working from Heights ticket
- Activate sludge BNR course
- Statement of Attainment in Operate and Control Liquefied Chlorine Gas Disinfection
- Forklift licence
