WALGA is seeking a commercially experienced and strategically minded Manager Commercial Management to lead our high-impact Preferred Supplier Program (PSP) and drive broader commercial initiatives that deliver tangible value to Local Governments across Western Australia.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll apply critical thinking to shape best practice approaches that work within the unique dynamics of Local Government, the private sector, and public agencies. You’ll navigate the governance structures, priorities, and operating environments of diverse stakeholders to inform the strategic direction of the PSP and ensure WALGA’s commercial offerings remain relevant, innovative, and impactful.
You’ll build and lead a high-performing team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to foster a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement, exploring new ideas and approaches that benefit WALGA and the sector.
Internally, you’ll collaborate across WALGA to align commercial initiatives with broader organisational goals. Externally, you’ll engage with Members, Preferred Suppliers, and government bodies to ensure the PSP continues to deliver value, efficiency, and sector-wide influence.
What will a typical week look like?
One day you might be:
- Reviewing supplier performance data and identifying opportunities for program innovation.
- Coaching your team through a new Member engagement initiative that enhances PSP uptake and value.
The next, you’ll be:
- Representing WALGA at a Zone or State Council meeting, advocating for the PSP and gathering insights to inform future direction.
- Collaborating with internal teams to align commercial initiatives with WALGA’s strategic priorities and Member needs.
You’ll also:
- Contribute to WALGA’s budgeting and long-term financial planning.
- Lead the development of commercial frameworks and tools that support consistency, transparency, and strategic alignment.
- Monitor governance, risk, and compliance considerations across all commercial activities.
