Join the City’s Waste Services team in this key operational role, leading the delivery of safe, efficient, and customer focused waste collection services. Working closely with the Waste Collection Supervisor, you will provide day to day leadership to the Waste Collection team, ensuring resources are used effectively and all activities comply fully with occupational safety and health requirements.
In this hands on position, you will also operate side loading and rear loading rubbish trucks as required, supporting the team to maintain high service standards and reliable waste collection across the City.
The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, organisation and time management skills, along with well developed interpersonal skills and the confidence to resolve conflicts effectively. Experience in waste services, including leading teams and operating collection equipment, is essential. Intermediate computer skills and a background in customer focused work will also help you thrive.
The role operates on a roster to ensure that support is available to the team seven days per week. Hours will be 9.5 hours per day (exclusive of a 30-minute unpaid meal break) with an average of 76 hours per fortnight to be worked over eight days per fortnight, Monday to Sunday inclusive. You must be available to work weekends and public holidays when rostered to do so.
We offer a gross annual salary of $96,781 which incorporates all allowances and penalty rates, and:
- 12% superannuation with the opportunity to co-contribute up to 5%
- Five weeks annual leave per annum
- A variety of health and wellbeing programmes including a physical health reimbursement subsidy payment of up to $200 per annum, free flu vaccinations, free skin cancer checks, mental health programs and Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) services
- Training and development opportunities including paid study leave and study fees
