We are seeking an experienced and motivated Administrative Support Officer to provide a range of high-level administrative support services to our Workforce and Legal Directorate, to facilitate the effective delivery of business operations. Our Workforce and Legal team supports our member councils by providing specialist advice, representation and services across employment, industrial relations, governance and legal matters. The team helps councils to operate as compliant, fair and effective employers while navigating the complex laws that apply to local government.

Local Government NSW (LGNSW) is the peak body for councils and related organisations in our State. LGNSW advocates on behalf of members and their communities on policy to decision makers at state and federal levels. We also provide a comprehensive range of services including industrial relations representation, management services and training.
About the role
Reporting to the Director Workforce and Legal, this role will:
- Provide administrative support to the Workforce and Legal Directorate
- Monitor the Directorate’s inbox and respond to members’ enquiries, or redirecting as required
- Answer incoming phone enquiries from members and escalate and redirect as required to ensure the provision of accurate and timely information
- Assist with record-keeping and maintenance
- Supporting our members with the provision of support services, including network meetings and HR subscription services

Essential requirements
- Substantial experience in providing administrative support
- Excellent organisational, time management and attention to detail skills with an ability to balance conflicting priorities and work to deadlines
- Well developed written and oral communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills and a capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
- Advanced knowledge and experience in MS Office, Outlook and records management systems
- High degree of professionalism and judgement with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
