About The Role..
An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and driven
Social Worker to join our dedicated Spinal Injury Unit. As a valued member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based social work services to clients, supporting them through their rehabilitation journey.
In this rewarding role, you’ll provide holistic, person-centred care, advocating for clients, supporting adjustment to injury, and helping individuals and their families navigate complex emotional, social and practical challenges. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact in a specialised setting while working alongside a supportive and experienced team.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Counselling to assist clients and their family/carers to deal with the emotional impact of injury, illness and disability and to undertake case planning, liaison, advocacy and referral to maximise access to appropriate community services.
- Liaise with multi-disciplinary team colleagues to optimise client care.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Social Work service.
- Comply with Royal Rehab and Social Work (SW) policies and procedures.
- Undertake other duties as required by Spinal Injury Unit Clinical Operational Manager (COM) or Social Work Professional Leader.
About You..
We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers and commitment to the AASW Code of Ethics.
- 3 years post graduate experience as a social worker.
- Demonstrable clinical skills in - assessment, counselling, advocacy, referral to community services and discharge planning in a health/rehabilitation setting.
- Demonstrated competence in communication skills - written and verbal, negotiation, conflict resolution.
- Sound time management skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and complete tasks.
- Demonstrated personal commitment to participation in supervision and professional development.
- Computer skills and demonstrated competency.
- Current NSW unrestricted C Drivers licence.
Desirable Criteria:
- Spinal experience.
- Experience in the supervision of students or willingness to learn.
