The Role: What You’ll Be Doing
As an Operations Officer, you are the backbone of our road maintenance and construction teams. Your day-to-day will include:
- Mastering the Machinery: Safely operating plant and equipment like excavators, loaders, and skid steers.
- Infrastructure Excellence: Providing the labour and skills needed to build, maintain, and repair vital civil infrastructure.
- Roadside Detail: Installing essential furnishings like signs, guideposts, and guardrails to keep our drivers safe.
- Keeping it Moving: Handling traffic control duties when needed and ensuring your plant is clean, serviced, and ready for action.
- Staying Organised: Accurately completing documentation and plant logs to keep our programs on track.
What You Bring to the Team (Selection criteria to be addressed in your application)
We’re looking for someone proactive who takes pride in their work. You’ll need:
- The Right Licence: A current and valid Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
- Operator Skills: Experience or certificates of competency in plant like skid steers or loaders.
- Safety First: A Construction Induction (White Card) and a solid understanding of plant maintenance.
- Proven Track Record: Relevant experience in a construction or similar environment.
- Proactive Mindset: The initiative to solve problems on the fly and a willingness to learn.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary commences at $1,153.70 per week plus Award allowances, with progression up to $1,337.90 per week plus Award allowances dependent upon skills and experience.
