About the Role
The City Performance directorate underpins the delivery of service excellence by providing expertise in financial services, governance and business technology.
The position is responsible for promoting good governance, maintaining probity of Council’s decision-making processes, and assisting with the implementation of Council’s Policy, and Legislative Compliance Frameworks and ensuring awareness and currency of administration and governance practices and policies.
Lead the Governance & Access to Information Teams in the delivery of coordinated governance and access to information activities and related functions across Council to facilitate good practice in ethics and values and the decision-making process.
The role is responsible to coordinate and communicate robust governance frameworks and supporting policies, systems, procedures and processes in line with legislative compliance.
About the role:
- Provide subject matter expert advice on Governance matters including policies, procedures, delegations, legislation, probity and statutory requirements
- Coordinate Council’s Governance framework providing expert advice to Executive and staff and continually review and implement improvements to the Framework.
- Coordinate and have oversight of delegations and legislative compliance including managing the process to identify legislation changes and make responsible officers aware of such changes
- Maintain various registers including but not limited to GIPA, Delegations, Donations and Sponsorship and Conflicts of Interest /Pecuniary Interest etc.
- Oversee the development, implementation and review of Council’s Policy Framework, including coordinating the regular review and updating of Policies on the Council Policy Register.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in law, corporate governance, public policy, business or related discipline and extensive experience in a governance related role.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in development and implementation of guidelines, policies and procedures in accordance with the relevant legislation and professional standards.
- Demonstrated experience in governance, with experience in at least three (3) of the following areas:
- Government Information (Public Access) Act
- Policy development, implementation and monitoring
- Statutory Compliance, Business Papers, Delegations, Probity, Investigations.
- Excellent written and oral communication, organisation and administration skills, coupled with experience in drafting reports, policies and correspondence.
- Experience in effectively leading and supervising a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience in Local Government.
- Experience in Infocouncil electronic business paper system and HPE electronic document management record system.
- Current Driver’s Licence Class C.

Salary Range: $119,425.30 to $133,757.50 + super
