Manager Media Relations
About the role
Sydney Water is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Media Relations Manager to join our Brand, Media & Marketing team. You will be responsible for developing and delivering strategic proactive and responsive communications and advice to strengthen and protect Sydney Water’s corporate reputation, build brand equity and trust, and maintain our legitimacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all proactive and reactive media relations.
- Proactively identify, monitor and manage emerging issues and develop communication and issues management plans to minimise reputational risks.
- Develop relationships and work with subject matter experts within Sydney Water to identify and develop opportunities to proactively promote Sydney Water’s brand through positive media stories.
- Lead the implementation of issues management framework, tracking and reporting.
- Act as Communications Lead during emergencies and major incidents.
- Keep up to date with emerging media trends and non-traditional media channels and update media and stakeholder strategy accordingly.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience working in senior positions in journalism, media or communications.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in developing and executing media plans and strategies.
- Excellent understanding of government relations with established networks and trusted relationships.
- Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail and experience writing executive level communications including media releases, statements and speeches
- Sound interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people and to establish working relationships across all levels
- Demonstrated experience in complex issues management and communicating complex projects to a mass audience.
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualifications in communications, journalism, public policy, public relations, business.).
