Temporary, Full Time for 4 years 35 hours, 5 days/week $111,867.28 to $122,577.95 + 12% super + Council leaseback vehicle/vehicle allowance
JOB DESCRIPTION
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Liverpool's strategic direction, engage with key stakeholders, and drive positive outcomes for the community.
As a Senior Transport Engineer, you will develop a safe and efficient local transport system across all modes of transport in the Liverpool Local Government Area, including a focus on managing space within the road reserve to ensure improved access for all people. The position demonstrates leadership in effective multi-modal transport engineering and develops balanced infrastructure solutions for the people of Liverpool.
A key part of the role involves maintaining strong communication and collaboration with external agencies including Transport for NSW, RMS, and the Department of Planning & Environment, as well as leading the Liverpool Local Transport Forum. The role also oversees the preparation of responses to enquiries from MPs, the Mayor, Councillors and customers. Additionally, it provides leadership, mentoring and quality oversight for Transport Engineers and junior staff, while ensuring adherence to Council policies, WHS requirements, ethical standards and equal employment opportunity principles.
ABOUT YOU:
The successful applicant will have:
- Degree in Traffic/Transport Engineering or extensive experience in traffic/transport engineering.
- Eligible for membership of an approved professional association.
- Current Class C Driver's license.
- High level of professional knowledge and demonstrated experience in developing feasible local transport solutions, supported by an understanding of relevant legislation.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the capacity to engage effectively with different stakeholders, both public and private.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in report writing, reviewing, and presenting technical information for a variety of audiences.
- Commitment to excellence in customer service. Experience in identifying and responding to Councillor, MP and community needs in the delivery of quality customer service outcomes.
- Extensive and demonstrated experience in multi-modal transport impact assessment of development proposals in accordance with Transport for NSW policies and Guidelines.
- Highly developed organisational, time management and project management skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, coordinate work teams, manage competing priorities and achieve deadlines.
