About the Role
As part of Council's maintenance team, this role is responsible for delivering high-quality construction, maintenance, and repair of Council's building assets, ensuring they remain safe, fit for purpose, and maintained to the highest standards within budget constraints.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor (Structures), you will play a key role in the delivery of the annual building works program. You will carry out inspections of damaged assets, investigate issues, and implement practical, cost-effective solutions that balance public safety, timelines, and budget requirements.
The main duties of this role include:
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor (Structures) in the delivery of the annual building works program.
- Inform the Maintenance Supervisor of issues impacting the delivery of assigned work.
- Respond to emergencies (breakdowns) during and outside of business hours.
- Carry out inspections of damaged assets, trouble shoot, investigate and problem solve before implementing the most appropriate repair, taking into consideration public risk, time, and budget.
- Investigate/ research and implement appropriate solutions building using cost-effective materials. This will include collaboration with manufacturers and suppliers.
- Scope, gain quotes, order, plan and execute works to maintain Council buildings in a safe, fit for purpose state to schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of progress against estimates and agreed timeframes

Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Carpentry and Joinery trade certificate.
- A broad range of experience (minimum 6 years as a qualified tradesperson) working in various aspects of the building industry (commercial, industrial, residential).
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of the building industry and the requirements of all associated trades.
- Current National WHS Construction Card (SafeWork NSW)
- Restricted Scaffold certificate or competency
- Class C Driver's License
- Proof of Australian working rights
