Manager Fleet Services (Ref: 1223)
About the position:
The Manager Fleet Services will lead the strategic and operational management of the City’s fleet, plant, and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective service delivery.
The role is responsible for fleet lifecycle planning, procurement, maintenance, and disposal, and for overseeing workshop operations, governance, and performance. It leverages TechnologyOne (OneCouncil/IBIS) and associated systems to support data-driven decision-making and long-term financial sustainability.
Key accountabilities:
• Develop and maintain a rolling fleet replacement and renewal program aligned to service demand and the Long-Term Financial Plan.
• Lead delivery of fleet and workshop services to ensure asset availability, safety, and compliance.
• Develop specifications for fleet assets in consultation with user departments.
• Lead and develop fleet staff, promoting a safe and high-performing team culture.

Position requirements:
This role requires a highly experienced professional with strong leadership and operational expertise in fleet management. The successful candidate will demonstrate proven ability to oversee vehicle lifecycle management, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and optimise fleet performance and cost efficiency. Key requirements include strong strategic planning skills, financial and contract management experience, and the ability to lead and develop teams. Excellent stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities are essential, along with a commitment to continuous improvement and service delivery excellence.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
This role is offered as a five (5) year fixed term contract. A salary package of up to $176,206.82 per annum will be offered commensurate with knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
