About the team
The Civil Services team at Council is currently welcoming expressions of interest from anyone who with experience or interest in civil works in Local Government for a number of General Assistant role that cover a wide variety of tasks, including:
- Day to day maintenance and repairs of the roads, footpaths and other assets within and around Ashford and Yetman.
- Participate in civil construction projects including but not limited to road construction, parks maintenance, and stormwater drainage.
- Inspections of various Council infrastructure across the Shire to ensure our roads and facilities are safe and in good repair.
- Gain on-the-job experience in labouring, plant operation, participating in a team and more!
Remuneration starts at $1,029.85 per week, but shall also attract Adverse Working Conditions allowance and overtime and other allowances are payable where applicable.

Examples of qualifications or training that would be advantageous:
- NSW Class C Drivers Licence, or preferably a NSW Class MR licence or higher.
- SafeWork NSW Traffic Controller (TCR) and Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP) accreditation.
- SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card ('White Card').
- Completion ofWork safely in the vicinity of overhead electrical apparatus as a non-electrical workerunit of competency.
- Plant operation experience and competencies in Grader, Front End Loader, Skid Steer, Excavator, Backhoe, Stabiliser, Roller or other powered mobile plant.
