About the Role
At Endeavour Energy, we're powering the future of energy by delivering safe, reliable and innovative solutions to more than 2.7 million customers across New South Wales.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to provide technical leadership for our Automation team, responsible for the design, support and continuous improvement of the SCADA systems that enable the monitoring and control of our electrical network. This is a highly influential role that combines leadership, engineering expertise and strategic thinking to ensure the reliability, security and performance of one of Endeavour Energy’s most critical operational systems.
You will play a key role in guiding technical excellence, supporting operational teams during network events, driving innovation and mentoring engineers to build capability across the business.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and engineering supervision to the Automation team, supporting performance, capability development and the delivery of high-quality SCADA and automation solutions.
- Lead the development, review and continuous improvement of SCADA designs, engineering standards, policies, procedures, testing methodologies and quality management systems.
- Oversee SCADA system administration, including master station infrastructure, servers, operating systems and application software, ensuring system reliability, security and performance.
- Deliver advanced technical support and expert advice during network operations and emergency events, including participation in rostered after-hours support arrangements.
- Drive strategic initiatives, process improvements and change management activities that enhance operational efficiency, network reliability, safety and business outcomes.
- Support project delivery through design reviews, auditing, stakeholder engagement, training and the provision of specialist technical guidance on SCADA systems, automation software and communication protocols.
About You
You are an experienced engineering professional with a passion for automation, control systems and technical leadership. You thrive in complex environments, enjoy solving challenging problems and can confidently engage with stakeholders across engineering, operational and technology disciplines.
You bring strong strategic thinking, leadership and communication skills, coupled with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence. Your ability to balance innovation with risk management will help ensure the ongoing reliability and security of Endeavour Energy’s critical SCADA systems.
Qualifications & Licences
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical or Mechatronics), or registration as a Professional Engineer in New South Wales in the specialisation of Electrical Engineering.
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
- WorkCover General Construction Induction (White Card).
Skills & Experience
You are an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in SCADA, power systems, control systems and communications networks. You have proven technical leadership experience, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships. Experience with protocols such as TCP/IP, IEC61850, DNP3 and IEC 61131, along with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence, will be highly regarded.
