About the position:
- Oversee Greater Hume Council’s Financial Services team and function, ensuring compliance and effective service delivery.
- Lead strategic financial initiatives and enhance organisational sustainability.
- Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to implement Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) requirements and work on planning for long-term financial sustainability.
- Oversee Council's Grants function to maximise external funding opportunities.
We are seeking a
Manager Finance to provide strategic oversight to the finance team in delivering service excellence across all aspects of Council's Financial Management. Reporting to the Director Corporate & Community Services, this role provides strategic leadership and expert advice to support informed decision-making and compliance with statutory obligations. This role is critical in shaping the long-term sustainability of Council and ensuring the integrity and transparency of Councils financial management practices.
The role has a direct impact on contributing to the achievement of Council’s Delivery Program/Operational Plan by supporting the development and implementation of key financial strategies and operational plans. As well as development of long term (10yr) financial plan in accordance with Integrated Planning & Reporting (IP&R) requirements and Council’s adopted Community Strategic Plan to meet the evolving needs of the Greater Hume community.
The Manager Finance position is based at the Holbrook Office but work can be arranged from other offices that includes Culcairn, Jindera or Albury. The position operates under the NSW Local Government (State) Award and is based on a 70-hour, 9-day fortnight work arrangement. This role offers a remuneration package ranging from $150,000 to $165,000 gross per year plus 12% superannuation and a leaseback vehicle.
What we are looking for:
- A dynamic and experienced financial leader who possesses both strategic vision and operational expertise.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or equivalent.
- Full membership, or eligibility for full membership, with CA ANZ or CPA Australia, including adherence to all ethical conduct and professional development standards.
- Extensive senior management experience managing a finance/accounting function in a complex organisational setting. Previous experience in a local government environment highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and comprehensive understanding of local government financial legislation, policies and processes.
- Advanced knowledge of budgeting, financial modelling and long-term financial planning (LTFP).
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on team development and continuous improvement practices.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in IT and financial management software.
- Current Class C Driver License.
