The Opportunity:
As a Community Planner, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Maitland's community
programs, services initiatives and infrastructure. Working collaboratively across Council and with a
broad range of community stakeholders, you will help ensure our facilities, infrastructure, programs
and services continue to meet the needs of our growing and diverse community.
In this role, you will develop, implement and review strategies, policies and plans that support Council's
long-term strategic vision. You will provide expert advice on emerging and current social policy and
community planning issues relevant to the Maitland Local Government Area, while contributing to
social planning, community infrastructure planning and community initiatives. You will also provide
input into development application submissions and identify and secure funding opportunities for
projects and programs that deliver lasting community benefits.
A key aspect of this role is building strong partnerships with community groups, government agencies
and internal stakeholders to deliver meaningful community outcomes.
About you:
To be successful within this role, you will have degree qualifications in planning, public policy, social
and behavioural sciences or a related discipline.
You will have contemporary industry experience in social policy and planning and strong interpersonal
and communication skills with an ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and facilitate
meaningful community consultation.
To be successful in this role you will also bring strong project management skills and an ability to
interpret data to inform planning and decision making.
Benefits:
This is a full-time, permanent role working a 35-hour week, with a base salary range of $102,017 -
$113,238 per year + 12% super.
