The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA/Agency) is the Australian Government’s key agency charged with promoting and improving gender equality in Australian workplaces, through the provision of advice and assistance to employers and the assessment and measurement of workplace gender data. Our Agency was established by the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 (Act).

WGEA’s ambition is to accelerate progress towards workplace gender equality. We are a small unique agency with a big agenda.

Why this role matters

WGEA administers annual gender equality reporting programs, building a world-leading dataset from employer-submitted information. The Technology Team underpins this work, delivering strategic and operational ICT services across digital strategy, architecture, applications, infrastructure, cloud, and cyber security.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Technology Executive Manager leads a small, high-performing team and is accountable for delivering affordable, stable, and effective technology solutions. The role plays a critical part in simplifying the reporting process for employers and ensuring WGEA’s systems comply with relevant legislation and policies.

As a key member of the Executive Team, the Executive Manager helps shape the Agency’s strategic direction while responding to immediate priorities through effective planning and delivery. The role fosters a values-driven, high-achieving culture and contributes to making WGEA a great place to work.

About you:

You are a strategic and innovative technology leader with a track record of delivering user-centric solutions that drive efficiency and effectiveness and are stable and secure. You bring a collaborative mindset, strong risk management capabilities, and a passion for building high-performing, service-oriented teams.
You have deep experience in platform solutions, performance monitoring, and agile delivery environments. Your broad understanding of data management and analytics enables you to support evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
Highly motivated and values-driven, you build trusted relationships across internal teams and external partners to deliver outcomes aligned with organisational goals . You are confident navigating regulatory environments and experienced in managing technology contracts and service providers to deliver secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions and service excellence.

We are seeking an individual with the following capabilities and experience (minimum requirements):

Proven experience managing technology services and delivery in a government or regulated environment.
Strong understanding of risk, security, and compliance obligations, including privacy and protective security frameworks.
Demonstrated skills in agile delivery, digital project management, and end-to-end solution implementation.
Experience in procurement and contract management, with a focus on value, quality, and cost-efficiency.
Ability to manage multi-year IT budgets and optimise technology investments.
Effective leadership of small teams and active contribution to executive-level decision-making.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders.
Tertiary qualifications in computer science or equivalent professional experience.
Alignment with the APS Integrated Leadership System (ILS) and Work Level Standards (WLS) for EL2, demonstrating strategic impact, leadership effectiveness, and values-driven performance.
Eligibility to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance (Australian citizenship required).

Desirable:

Experience with Salesforce platforms (Service Cloud, Community Cloud, Public Sector Solutions, Account Engagement).
Familiarity with Salesforce integrations such as Mulesoft, Microsoft Azure, Alteryx, and Tableau.
