About the Team
The Specialised Businesses Team is focused on creating innovative consumer energy solutions to support the energy transition. Their focus is on empowering consumers to manage their own energy production, storage, and consumption, while also enabling them to contribute to the broader energy grid through Virtual Power Plants (VPPs). This power plant is built from household solar panels, batteries, electric vehicles, home energy devices and community batteries.
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Specialised Businesses Team, as an Asset Engineer (Small Scale Energy Assets). In this role, you will execute within the operational phase of the VPP asset lifecycle and will collaborate with a team of Technical Subject Matter Experts along with the broader project, product and operational teams. Other key responsibilities of the role include:
- Managing, monitoring, and optimising the asset performance and lifecycle of community-scale battery storage systems
- Overseeing contracts and operations related to these energy storage projects to ensure asset performance, system reliability, and optimisation strategies
- Working closely with Operations and Wholesale trading teams to identify and report on substandard fleet performance during Wholesale Market and Distribution Network related events
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have considerable experience with energy assets and operational programs involving smaller scale generation, wholesale electricity markets, battery and inverter products and services. Other things we’re keen on include:
- A background in battery engineering or energy storage systems
- Sound expertise in asset lifecycle management
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, with the ability to formulate, synthesise and analyse complex problems and provide meaningful advice and insights
- Adaptable and proactive, ready to tackle challenges in a dynamic setting
- Open to receiving feedback, with the ability to also challenge respectfully
- Relevant qualifications in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or Computer Science
