About the role
Council is seeking a skilled and motivated Public Domain Coordinator to join our Urban and Heritage Planning Team.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the identity and liveability of our local centres through high-quality public domain planning and design.
As the Public Domain Coordinator – Local Centres, you’ll be at the forefront of planning and coordinating improvements to the public realm across Ku-ring-gai’s diverse town centres.
You’ll work closely with urban designers, planners, engineers, and key stakeholders to deliver high-impact outcomes that enhance streetscapes, promote walkability, and reflect the unique heritage and character of the area.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage the planning, design, and implementation of public domain strategies and upgrades within local centres
- Provide expert advice on public domain matters as part of development applications and strategic planning projects
- Engage with internal teams, external consultants, and the community to ensure inclusive and practical outcomes
- Contribute to policy development, including public domain manuals, design guidelines, and masterplans
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, and deliverables
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture and professional accreditation as a Registered Landscape Architect
- Minimum 10 years’ senior-level experience in landscape architecture, including experience coordinating projects from the client side
- Proven ability to lead complex public domain and landscape projects from concept to delivery, including detailed documentation for large-scale developments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to produce high-quality reports, strategies, and presentations, and present confidently to senior stakeholders
- Experience managing community engagement processes and supervising staff within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated commitment to design excellence, sustainability, and innovation
- Proficiency in relevant software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and CAD programs
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
