- Salary $109,513.56 to $127,034.96 p/a + super

About the role
Reporting to the Team Leader Development Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with environmental planning and building legislation, development consents, and Council policies.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to investigate, resolve, and manage a wide range of development compliance matters.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Investigate breaches of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Government Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act, and related legislation
- Conduct site inspections, gather evidence, and prepare reports, notices, and enforcement actions
- Represent Council in legal proceedings and provide expert evidence as required
- Liaise with residents, developers, legal representatives, and government agencies to resolve compliance issues
- Mentor junior compliance staff and contribute to ongoing process improvement
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in building construction and inspection, development control, land use or related discipline
- Eligibility for accreditation as a Building Surveyor on the Fair Trading NSW Register
- Experience in development or regulatory compliance within a local government or similar environment
- Demonstrated understanding of the development control process in NSW
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Proven ability to manage complex investigations and enforcement proceedings
- Current Class C driver’s licence
