Civil Designer (Ref: 1350) – Fixed Term
About the position:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil Designer to join the City’s Project Delivery and Engineering team. Responsible for providing engineering support across the Infrastructure Services department with a focus on capital works project design, civil design, drafting and estimating. The role will also assist with traffic and engineering investigations, asset management and asset creation proposals, including funding applications.
The Civil Designer will provide expert advice in many aspects of the infrastructure life cycle, including initial investigations, inception, planning, design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure including roads, paths and drainage systems.
This position is offered as a fixed term full-time contract until August 2026.
Key accountabilities:
- Provide technical civil engineering support to the Infrastructure Services Department and across the organisation as required always ensuring highest standard of customer service.
- Carry out detailed design, drafting and estimating of a variety of municipal capital works projects including (but not limited to); earthworks, roads, intersections, carparks, footpaths, drainage and related civil works.
- Produce bills of Quantities (BOQ) and construction cost estimates and develop Safety in Design (SiD) reports to support project delivery and compliance.
- Provide accurate technical design advice to relevant City departments on new capital and renewal infrastructure projects.

Position requirements:
The successful applicant will ideally hold a Degree in Civil Engineering. Applicants with lesser qualification but significant experience in the design and drafting of roads, footpaths, drainage and other minor scale Civil Infrastructure Works will also be considered. Experience in writing grant applications would be highly regarded.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
A salary range between $89,127 – $100,195 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate as it relates to the requirements of the position.
