We're looking for a data-driven problem solver to design and deliver innovative data solutions that unlock financial and operational insights across our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) assets and customer base.
About the Role
In this role, you'll develop tools and strategies that empower the team to perform routine reporting and analysis, while also leveraging these solutions yourself to conduct deeper, more complex investigations. Your work will directly support the efficient operation of our VPP and contribute to the broader energy transition—from a traditional centralised grid to a dynamic, decentralised two-way energy system.
You’ll take ownership of integrating data from small-scale energy assets (under 5MW) with control systems, and lead the development of analytical tools that turn this data into actionable insights.
- Specify, design and deliver data analytics tools and solutions for small scale energy assets such as customer assets, community batteries and other DER capabilities to assist the operational and financial performance review of our VPP assets and customers.
- Engage with data analytics vendors as part of data solution design and ongoing operation. Responsible for monitoring and reporting on service level agreements with our data analytics vendors to ensure integrity of our data analytics tools where applicable.
- Conduct routine and adhoc business and data analysis based on prevailing business requirements. This includes analysing the performance of our VPP optimisation engine (versus a baseline) and investigating areas for improvement to drive better financial performance and customer outcomes.
- Analyse, plan, define data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata and master data. Create, implement and maintain back-end data processing routines and procedures.
- Actively engage and contribute to the team to maintain a high performance, flexible, collaborative and customer focused team and develop strong and productive internal and external technology networks. Be at the forefront of data analytics (incl. real-time)/ intelligence technology, data acquisition opportunities and share relevant knowledge with the wider team.
How can you support the Clean Energy Transition
- Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
- Data Experience - Competent with Python, SQL and data visualisation software such as PowerBI, Databricks, Snowflake, and real-time analytics tools; experience in Project Management is desirable; experience with IT data architecture and implementation; Desirable - 10+ years experience in data analytics, data science, business intelligence roles
- Preference for energy industry background, understanding of energy wholesale markets desirable
