We are seeking an experienced and professional Community Development Officer with a passion for communities.
You will work collaboratively with key groups and agencies to develop as well as evaluate sustainable partnerships, through application of appropriate community development principles and practices. Portfolio areas may include access and inclusion, Seniors, CaLD communities, first nation people, grants and club development practices. Out of hours availability will occasionally be required.
In this role you will have the following accountabilities:
- Actively seek partnerships with community groups, service providers and community agencies to facilitate the provision of social services, lifelong learning, artistic, and cultural activities in the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.
- Develop and deliver a range of social initiatives, and/or programs relevant to Council aligned objectives for people who live, work and study in the local area.
- Undertake appropriate community engagement processes to inform the delivery of community development and wellbeing initiatives, programs and projects relevant to the Shire demographics.
- Seek funding from external agencies and corporate sponsors to support Community Development initiatives within the Shire. This includes the development of relevant funding applications and acquittal documentation.
Our preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and skillset:
- Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in a Community Development position or similar.
- High level interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.
- Well-developed networking and negotiation skills (includes both group and individual settings).
- Ability to work outside "normal" office hours.
