The City Performance directorate underpins the delivery of service excellence by providing expertise in financial services, procurement, governance, customer experience and business technology.
About the role
Lead a high-performing team responsible for Council’s rates and revenue functions. In this role, you will ensure rates information is accurate, up to date, and managed in compliance with relevant state legislation. You will deliver clear, timely, and transparent financial information, analysis, and advice to support informed decision-making across the Executive, Leadership Team, and key stakeholders.
- Leads and supervises staff on a day-to-day basis, delegating duties as required.
- Undertake end of year rates processes, the issue of rates and non-rate invoices and levies, and the preparation of rates projections.
- Undertake the production and posting of rate and instalment notices, and the issue of all certificates.
- Undertake the calculation and administration for rate equivalent payments.
- Monitor debt recovery action for both rates and accounts receivable debts and recommend procedures to recover these debts within a reasonable timeframe.
- Develop team capability to ensure up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, NSW rating and revenue manual, council policies and prescribed corporate and external reporting frameworks.
- Coordinate lodgement of financial and statistical returns to the Office of Local Government, Australian Bureau of Statistics and other organisations.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field preferable and /or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the management of a revenue team.
- Superior leadership skills and an ability to motivate and lead a team of people.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Relationship management skills.
- High degree of flexibility and ability to deal with change, growth, and pressure.

Salary: $126,906.81 - $142,136.00 pa plus 12% superannuation
