About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled professional to lead the strategic and asset management planning of Council's floodplain and stormwater programs. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with NSW legislation, integrating floodplain strategies with Council initiatives, and providing expert advice on flood Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Manage Council's floodplain management program in line with the NSW Flood Risk Management Manual (2023).
- Oversee strategic planning, flood studies, risk management plans, and stormwater asset planning.
- Provide technical expertise for planning proposals and development assessments on flood-prone land.
- Coordinate Council's Flood Alert Network and Total Flood Warning Systems.
- Lead a team of professionals and manage contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes within budget and timelines.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
- Considerable experience in floodplain and stormwater management or related fields.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and competing priorities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Extensive knowledge of hydrological and hydraulic modelling processes and software.
