Permanent, Full Time 36 Hours, 4 days per week Location: Liverpool Competitive Salary
JOB DESCRIPTION
The role of Mechanic is responsible for efficiently carrying out mechanical work involved in servicing and maintaining the Council’s fleet, plant, and equipment in a cost-effective and timely manner. The role is instrumental in the delivery of high-quality mechanical services on Council assets to ensure our assets continue to deliver the required levels of service delivery for our growing community. Key responsibilities include:
- Mechanical repairs and servicing across Councils diverse fleet mix.
- The diagnosis of faults, including the identification of parts and requirements to rectify.
- Providing mechanical services ‘in the field’ as a mobile mechanic.
- Conducting work in a clean, safe, and tidy operational manner; and
- Completing relevant documentation pertaining to all work conducted.
- Any other mechanical duties as could be reasonably expected within a Council Mechanical Workshop and through mobile van support.
- Undertake other duties as required
ABOUT YOU
The successful applicant will have:
- MVTC license and relevant trade certificates.
- Current HR Driver’s License (or written commitment to obtain within 6 months).
- Forklift License (or written commitment to obtain within 6 months).
- Evidence of having provided high-quality mechanical services in an operational environment.
- Experience in working remotely or without supervision.
- Experience in servicing, maintaining, and repairing trucks, light fleet vehicles, heavy plant, and machinery.
- Experience in diagnosing mechanical faults as well as identifying parts and resources required to carry out repairs.

Salary will be dependent on the relevant skills, experience, and competencies of the successful applicant within the specified range above.
