About the role
Woollahra Council is seeking to employ a qualified and enthusiastic Bush Regenerator to join the Bushland Maintenance team on a permanent full-time basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for those who love the outdoors, where you will be based in various locations throughout the Woollahra Council area including Cooper Park, Parsley Bay Reserve, Gap Park, Trumper Park and Harbour View Park.
Working as part of the Bushland Maintenance team, you will work collaboratively to carry out the restoration of bushland in Council’s unique parks and reserves, in accordance with adopted Council policies and relevant legislation.
You will be required to carry out horticultural maintenance in parks, bushland and Council reserves, select plants and maintain a wide range of native and exotic plant species, including trees, shrubs, groundcovers and grasses along with undertaking appropriate methods of weed control. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting hazards and following up and completion of customer requests.
About you
The successful Candidate will have previous experience in Bush Regeneration and most importantly, have a great work ethic, a positive attitude and a passion for bush regeneration and park maintenance.
Your exceptional customer service skills and your ability to work independently will ensure your success in this role.
Essential Criteria
- Completed a TAFE Certificate in Bush Regeneration or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in bushland regeneration and park maintenance
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Work Health and Safety in the workplace and the practical application of safe working procedures
- Demonstrated ability to contribute and work as part of a team and coordinate team members as required
- Well-developed communication skills with experience in dealing with the public in high profile areas
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Proven problem solving skills and a willingness to follow issues through to completion
- Willingness and experience participating in a culture striving for continuous improvement
- Experience and knowledge in the safe use of herbicides for the control of weeds and pests
- Proven experience in the use of associated plant and equipment
- Computer literate
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
Desirable Criteria
- Construction Induction Card
- Chemical Application (Level 3) qualifications
- Experience and knowledge in the safe use of herbicides for the control of weeds and pests
- Demonstrated ability to develop maintenance and improvement programs
