About the role
Clarence Valley Council is seeking an Internal Audit Officer to lead and deliver Council’s internal audit function.
This role provides risk based, objective assurance across governance, compliance and operational systems. You will develop and implement the internal audit program, monitor audit recommendations, support the Audit and Risk Improvement Committee, and provide practical advice to strengthen risk management and internal controls across the organisation.
We are looking for a tertiary qualified professional in accounting, finance or business management with demonstrated experience in internal audit and risk management.
To be considered for this position you will need to:

- Attach a cover letter (2 pages maximum) and an up-to-date resume (5 pages maximum) that clearly details your skills & experience as relevant to this position. You will need to demonstrate how you meet the focus capabilities and how your skills will enable you to achieve the key accountabilities.
- Answer the target questions - maximum 300 words each question
Q1. Please outline your experience delivering an internal audit function, including how you have developed risk based audit programs and taken ownership over governance, risk and compliance.
Q2. Please provide an example of a time you identified an organisational risk and worked with managers or senior staff to implement improvements. How did you ensure effective planning, stakeholder engagement and measurable outcomes?
