About the role
Inquisitive and with a high level of attention to
detail, you will play an important role as pat of the Risk and Assurance team by
assisting with the management of claims which are brought against the Council,
Reporting to the Risk and Assurance Coordinator,
you will prepare correspondence related to claims made by law firms and members
of the public, liaise with Council’s external advisors on progressing claims or
litigation, and collate relevant documentation to support the assessment or
resolution of the litigation or claims.
The Litigation and Claims Officer will utilise
their established administrative skills together with a foundational knowledge
of legal processes to help drive an efficient claims and litigation
practice.
Skills and experience
- Ability
to quickly develop an understanding of the role and function of Council in
responding to litigation or claims for compensation
- Demonstrated
communication, customer service and/or administration support skills.
- A
relationship builder of collaborative working teams.
- Ability
to analyse claims made, request and synthesise relevant information from
Council departments, prepare recommendations for resolution of claims having
regard to external advice, Council policy and established principles of claims management
- A
high level of attention to detail to produce high quality work including
external correspondence.
- Strong
computer skills (including Microsoft Teams and Office 365).
