We are seeking a dedicated biosecurity professional to lead a dedicated team protecting the Tamworth region from invasive weeds and biosecurity threats. In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee the Biosecurity Team and deliver high-quality services that protect our natural environment, agricultural land and community.
You will provide specialist advice, coordinate inspections and compliance activities, and work closely with landowners, stakeholders and the wider community to prevent and manage biosecurity weed risks across the region.
To be successful in this role you will be an experienced biosecurity or weeds management professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for protecting the environment. You will enjoy working collaboratively with landholders and stakeholders while ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice biosecurity management.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Leading and supervising the Biosecurity Team to deliver effective weed management and compliance outcomes.
- Provide specialist technical advice and hands-on support in weed identification, inspection and control activities.
- Work closely with landowners and stakeholders to prevent, eliminate and manage weed biosecurity risks.
- Undertake inspections and enforcement activities under relevant legislation.
- Support Council in meeting its obligations under biosecurity legislation and service delivery commitments.
- Act as a Weed Biosecurity Authorised Officer under the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
- Certificate III in Conservation & Land Management (specialising in weeds) or similar OR significant relevant experience.
- AQF4 ChemCert Certificate or demonstrated experience in use of chemical application and willingness to obtain AQF4 ChemCert Certificate
- Biosecurity Act Authorised Officers Training or demonstrated experience in biosecurity operations and a willingness to Biosecurity Act Authorised Officers Training.
- Drivers Licence
- Immunisation (or willingness to undergo) to Tetanus, Hepatitis A&B and Q Fever

Salary range: Grade 15 - $88,896.63 - $96,121.20 per annum plus 12% superannuation for a 38 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
