About the Opportunity
At PMHC every employee plays a part in ensuring we work
together to achieve positive outcomes for our community. We are currently seeking an experienced Landfill
Compactor Operator to join our Waste Services team within the Utilities
Operations group.
In this hands-on role, you will support the safe, efficient
and environmentally responsible operation of Council’s landfill facility.
You’ll operate heavy plant and equipment to manage waste placement and
compaction, helping to optimise landfill space and ensure compliance with
environmental and regulatory standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operate
landfill compactor, excavator and other plant in line with legislative
requirements and Council procedures
- Place
and compact waste to achieve required compaction rates and optimise
landfill capacity
- Construct
and maintain landfill cells, including application of daily, intermediate
and final cover
- Manage
stockpiles, including regulated materials such as asbestos
- Carry
out general excavation works, drainage clearing and internal road
maintenance
- Undertake
pre-start checks, inspections and basic maintenance on plant and equipment
- Assist
with broader site operations, including weighbridge and litter truck
duties as required
- Follow
landfill plans and site directives in collaboration with the Waste
Coordinator and Team Leader
- Maintain
a strong focus on safety, environmental compliance and site cleanliness
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated
recent experience operating a landfill compactor
- Experience
operating heavy plant, including a 20-tonne or larger excavator
- Current
Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence or higher
- NSW
General Construction Induction (White Card)
- Understanding
of Work Health and Safety requirements
- Strong
communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- A
proactive approach and willingness to undertake a variety of operational
tasks
Remuneration and Benefits
Employment type: Permanent, full-time role (38 hours per week, 9-day fortnight)
Salary (exclusive of super): Starting salary of $1214.70 per
week with the opportunity for competency-based progression up to $1359.63 per
week.
