Manager Strategic Procurement
About the Role
Maitland City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Manager Strategic Procurement. Reporting to the Executive Manager Finance Services, this new role will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of procurement strategy within Maitland City Council.
This role is responsible for providing leadership on the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) function, integrating Procurement, Stores/Warehouse and Accounts Payable to deliver a controlled and compliant operating model.
You will develop and maintain a central contract management framework and register whilst overseeing contract performance, championing organisation wide contract compliance and the reduction off contract spend.
In this role, you will lead complex, high value tenders, negotiations and sourcing initiatives, develop pricing models and supply agreements that optimise cost, manage risk and deliver sustainable value.
You will provide the organisation on probity advice, for high risk or sensitive procurements, whilst ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and ethical requirements.
About You

As the Manager Development, you will:
- Be tertiary qualified in Procurement, Commerce, Business, Law, Logistics, or related discipline.
- Possess extensive experience in public sector procurement (preferably Local Government), including tendering, contract negotiation and supplier management.
- Have demonstrated experience managing high-value contracts, establishing contract management frameworks and lifecycle management of contracts.
- Strong understanding of Procure to Pay process coupled with experience with procurement and financial systems with experience overseeing procurement, stores and or accounts payable functions.
- Strong ability to lead, develop and manage high-performing teams.
- Demonstrate high level interpersonal and communication skills and the capacity to influence outcomes with people at all levels internally and externally.
