ABOUT THE ROLE
Position
We are offering a great opportunity for an experienced and motivated backhoe operator to join our Engineering Works section.
Reporting to the Supervisor Utilities Construction, this position provides high level support in the delivery and maintenance of essential water and wastewater infrastructure for the Ballina Shire community.
In this hands-on role, you will primarily operate a backhoe to support a range of construction and maintenance projects. You while also contribute to broader operational activities including pipe laying, infrastructure repairs, maintenance works and the operation of other plant and equipment.
This is a great opportunity to be part of a skilled and supportive team delivering vital services across the Shire.
To be successful you will bring

- Demonstrated high level competence in the operation of a backhoe in a civil construction and maintenance working environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure including pipelines, manholes and valve pits.
- Work Safely in the Construction Industry Induction ticket (white card).
- Class MR driver licence with the ability to operate manual transmission, or a willingness to obtain.
- Traffic Control and Implement Traffic Control (or a willingness to obtain)

- Poly Welding certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Trenching and Shoring certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Locate and protect underground services certificate (or willingness to obtain)
The rewards
- A salary range of $61,300 to $70,300 per annum (plus 12% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
