The salary range for this opportunity starts at $71,820 (Grade D, Step 1) plus 12% super.

The role
As an Operator Rear Loader – Street Cleaning Night Shift, you’ll collect and transport waste from designated litter bins and public areas to disposal facilities during night shift.
You’ll safely and efficiently operate a rear loader heavy vehicle, follow assigned routes and schedules, and help maintain the cleanliness and presentation of public spaces across the city.

What you’ll be doing
- Operating a rear loader heavy vehicle to collect waste from designated areas during night shift
- Transporting and disposing of collected waste at approved facilities
- Following assigned routes efficiently and safely
- Conducting routine checks and minor maintenance on the vehicle
- Responding to emergency cleaning and waste collection requests
- Documenting and reporting damaged bins, blockages, hazardous waste or other operational issues
- Assisting with clean-up before, during and after public events
- Engaging respectfully with residents and visitors when required
- Following safe work procedures and relevant safety protocols
About you
You’re a reliable and safety-focused heavy vehicle operator who takes pride in delivering a quality service. You can follow schedules, work independently or as part of a team, and are comfortable working night shift while responding professionally to operational issues as they arise.
You’ll need:
- A Class HR Driver’s Licence
- Availability and suitability to work night shift
- Experience operating heavy vehicles
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices
- Ability to follow designated routes and complete tasks within required timeframes
- Ability to conduct routine vehicle checks and minor maintenance
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to document and report operational issues
- Experience in street cleaning operations, rear load garbage compaction units or road brooms, highly regarded
