The role
As a Plant Operator – Street Cleaning - Night Shift, you’ll operate street cleaning plant and equipment to maintain a high level of cleanliness across public roads, town centres and Council properties during night shift.
Your work will help remove debris, litter, leaves and other waste materials to support public safety, city presentation and a cleaner environment.

What you’ll be doing
- Operating street cleaning plant and equipment according to set schedules
- Keeping streets and footpaths clear of debris, litter and leaves
- Performing pre and post-operation checks on vehicles and equipment
- Using blowers and other equipment to support cleaning activities
- Responding to emergency cleaning requests
- Documenting and reporting issues such as large debris, vandalism, hazardous waste or maintenance concerns
- Working safely and in compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law, Chain of Responsibility and relevant road rules
- Engaging respectfully with residents and visitors when required
About you
You’re reliable, safety-focused and take pride in keeping public spaces clean and well maintained. You can work independently, follow schedules and respond flexibly to changing operational needs.
You’ll need:
- A Class MR Driver’s Licence
- Experience operating plant, vehicles or equipment in an operational environment
- Ability to perform pre and post-operation checks and routine maintenance
- Experience following set schedules and completing tasks within required timeframes
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to respond promptly to emergency cleaning requests
- Ability to document and report operational issues
- Experience operating street sweeper vehicles, highly regarded
- Understanding of Chain of Responsibility provisions, highly regarded
